App state

Shipping and actively maintained.

The current direct build includes per-app sound controls, a local player, AI Tune, remembered song adjustments, headphone correction, community EQ imports, licensing and automatic update controls.

Control each app

Use a ten-band equalizer, output level and headphone correction separately for the apps you listen to.

Optional help while listening

AI Tune analyzes playback locally, remembers adjustments and keeps manual control available.

Two ways to get EQK

The direct 3.2 build has a 14-day trial and two-Mac lifetime licence. The App Store currently has version 2.2 with Apple billing.

Release history

The release line, version by version.

This is the factual release history for the direct build.

Current
3.2

EQK 3.2

  • Restores a verified Sparkle update path with a Developer ID-validated signing-key rotation.
  • Ships as a signed, notarized, and stapled universal DMG for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
  • Includes the current EQK 3.2 application build.
Version
3.1

EQK 3.1

  • New Optimizer console in the Patchbay — checks your song memories and saved layouts for anything broken or left over from older versions and clears it out, on a schedule (daily to every 3 days) or on demand.
  • Clears incomplete song profiles so AI Tune keeps only fully-learned songs.
  • Housekeeping and stability improvements.
  • Refreshed the app icon — a translucent frosted-glass pane.
Version
3.0.1

EQK 3.0.1

  • Fixes audio cutting out a second or two into a song on saved setups — routes that remembered an old output device now follow your Mac's current one
  • Online lyrics now ask before looking anything up, instead of after the first search
  • Steadier, lighter beat-reactive glow, and lower CPU use while music plays
  • Music synced app effects
  • Better sound processing for cleaner, more consistent playback
  • Improved multichannel processing for richer routing across supported outputs
Version
2.9.6

EQK 2.9.6

  • Fixes a serious crash introduced in 2.9.5 — dragging to resize the EQK window could quit the app and leave it unable to reopen. Window resizing is now rock-solid in every direction.
  • Clears a stray blue outline that could appear around the Patchbay list.
Version
2.9.5

EQK 2.9.5

  • Resize EQK freely in width or height — the window no longer snaps to a fixed aspect ratio
  • Drag songs or folders straight into Local Library, with clearer queue controls and import confirmations
  • Lyrics now show search progress, make synced lines easier to seek, and offer a one-click return to the live line
  • Improved keyboard and VoiceOver control across EQ bands, volume, routes, settings, imports, and onboarding
Version
2.9.4

EQK 2.9.4

  • Updates now appear inside EQK as soon as Sparkle finds them, with a direct button to install
  • A new Settings toggle controls automatic update downloads and installs — and EQK remembers your choice
Version
2.9.3

EQK 2.9.3

  • Fixes AI Tune's indicators vanishing on 2.9.2 — the recommendation marks are back on every band
  • Fixes a subtle volume pumping on steady music introduced in 2.9.2
  • Song memory now recognizes a partial listen and fills in the rest on later plays, instead of mislabeling it as fully learned
  • A clear reminder now appears if System Audio Recording gets turned off, with a direct link to re-enable it
  • Onboarding now offers one-click buttons to open Apple Music, Spotify, or Apple TV so EQK can find them
Version
2.9.2

EQK 2.9.2

  • Louder out of the box — a built-in +4 dB output lift at the neutral fader, with extra saturator headroom to keep it clean
  • No more tweak limits — AI mode now gives every band the slider's full ±12 dB range
  • 500 Hz set free — the balance lock is gone, and AI Tune now shapes 500 Hz in both directions like any other band
Version
2.9

EQK 2.9

  • AI Tune now remembers every song — your per-song dynamic EQ returns the moment a track replays
  • New Song-in-Memory light shows when a track's tune is saved vs still learning
  • Song memory scales with your Mac — up to 1,000 songs on MacBook Pros and desktops
  • Smoother AI Tune — curve changes glide instead of stepping, plus another cooler, lighter efficiency pass
Version
2.8

EQK 2.8

  • Runs cooler and lighter — lower CPU and battery use during playback
  • Smoother meters and animations that pause when EQK is hidden
  • Low Power Mode aware: EQK dials itself down automatically

What I’m exploring

Ideas that could make listening easier.

These ideas may change or never ship. There are no promised dates.

A

Find useful shared EQ files in the app

Browse moderated community profiles without leaving EQK.

B

Know which profiles you can trust

Show the measurement source, device variant and review state before you import a profile.

C

Make everyday use steadier

Continue improving recovery, CPU use, accessibility, updates and remembered settings.

Browser note: normal tabs cannot be controlled separately. Use a dedicated Mac app or a saved web app where possible. Read the compatibility guide.

Tell me what you need

Describe the listening problem, not only a feature name.

Post without an account or email, or send private feedback. Your app, headphone and setup details help me understand the problem.
